Also, Dave Rich proposed to change the text to read "Each replication represents a^n entire^ single dimension." |

But see the following from Dave Rich from Jan. 17: It has come back to me. Some functionality has been garbled when '{} was added to {}. Before we added the ', only one set of braces in a literal was represented by a replication. so {4{1}} could become the same as {1,1,1,1}, the inner set of braces is part of the replication, not part the assignment pattern. so {2{1,1}} becomes {1,1,1,1}, it Therefore I believe replication in assignment patters should only require one ' '{4{1,1}} Dave |

The example in 3.8 is dealt with in 0001666. However, the text Dave referred to is in 8.13.1 and is not dealt with in 1666. |

The example in 3.8 is covered by 0001666. The uploaded proposal here just covers Dave's requested change to 8.13.1. |

From Champions email vote ending on Sept 17 Passed with the following friendly amendments (4 yes and 2 not voting) 1. I cannot assign a technical meaning to the phrase "multiple concatenations" in this context. This is the only occurrence of this phrase in Draft3a. The phrase "nested replications" is more intuitive to me. This choice also has the advantage of providing a target for the reference to "replication" in "Each replication represents an entire single dimension". 2. I think that the sentence Each replication represents an entire single dimension. Should be in the "shall" mode of 1.5. |

For the record, replications are also called multiple concatenations where they are defined, in 11.4.12.1 (of Draft 4), and also in the BNF. But I agree that replication is the more common term. I uploaded a new proposal with the changes, including a xref to 11.4.12.1. |

Feedback from the technical committee is needed on this one. If the svbc is ok with the friendly amendments from the Champions it can go on to the Working Group. |
